J. Seth Kerr joined the firm in January of 2017 as a senior associate. Mr. Kerr focuses his practice on defending and litigating claims for national and local insurance carriers, and their insureds, throughout the state of Florida. In addition, he represents businesses with litigation matters including defending and enforcing non-compete agreements and acts a general counsel supporting businesses in their day to day operations.
Prior to joining Simon, Reed & Salazar in 2017, Mr. Kerr spent the immediately preceding seven years representing insurer clients in all types of insurance related cases, including: insurance coverage litigation, contract disputes, violations of the Florida Deceptive and Unfair Trade Practices Act and personal injury/negligence claims in both federal and state court. Prior to that, and in the early stage of Mr. Kerr’s career, he was an attorney with the public defender’s office and, thereafter, went into private criminal defense practice, which provided Mr. Kerr with a depth of trial experience.
While in law school, Mr. Kerr received the Book Award in Comparative Criminal Procedure and served a member of the Mock Trial team. As a law student, Mr. Kerr worked as a certified legal intern for the Children’s Advocacy Clinic and volunteered for the Florida Innocence Project.
