ABOUT

Brian S. Jacobson is a Partner in the Miami office. Brian joined the firm in September 2018 and is principally involved in counseling and defending insurance companies in insurance coverage disputes, including providing litigation support and appellate services in state and federal courts. He assists national and local carriers in the investigation of first-party and third-party claims, and provides coverage opinions and analysis of property, general liability and various other types of insurance policies.

Mr. Jacobson is a certified Bikram yoga instructor and musician. He studied Studio Music and Jazz Performance (guitar) at the University of Miami and was an adjunct professor at the New World School of the Arts in Miami before attending law school at St. Thomas University.

EXPERIENCE

Mr. Jacobson has concentrated most of his law career in insurance coverage litigation, representing both insurance companies and policyholders. Before joining the firm, he worked at another insurance defense firm and spent three years managing his own practice as a freelance appellate attorney. Prior to that, Mr. Jacobson worked as an associate for a well-known plaintiff’s firm representing health care providers in disputes against managed care organizations. He has handled complex commercial litigation in state and federal courts, including health care, contract and insurance coverage disputes, bad faith litigation, and various appellate matters.

RECOGNITION

While in law school, Mr. Jacobson was selected as a Judicial Intern for the Honorable Peggy A. Quince at the Florida Supreme Court. He also spent a semester clerking for the Honorable David M. Gersten at Florida’s Third District Court of Appeal. In addition to being the recipient of seven book awards and the Outstanding Public Service Award, Mr. Jacobson was a member of St. Thomas University School of Law’s Intercultural Human Rights Law Review and Dean’s List.
