
ABOUT
Karen F. Grossman became a Partner at Simon, Reed & Salazar in July 2024. Ms. Grossman represents multinational clients in all aspects of civil litigation, with specialized expertise in defense of cruise, cargo, yacht, and recreational vessel owners, federal practice, and medical malpractice. Ms. Grossman also provides coverage and risk management opinions.
EXPERIENCE
Over the last thirty years Ms. Grossman has represented all major cruise lines, giving her a unique understanding of port and shipboard risks. She successfully handles sensitive claims including missing persons, sexual assault, catastrophic personal injury, and death. In working with self-insureds, marine insurers, protection and indemnity clubs, and underwriters, Ms. Grossman’s employs a results-oriented defense strategy, proactively working for a positive resolution. In personal injury and medical malpractice matters, Ms. Grossman maintains a strong network of medical experts to assess and effectively present medical defenses in court.

RECOGNITION
Ms. Grossman was a Fellowship Instructor in Legal Research and Writing at the University of Florida, Levin College of Law, and interned with the late Joseph J. Gersten, in the Eleventh Circuit Court in Miami-Dade County. In 2015, she was accepted as a volunteer attorney in the felony division of Miami’s Public Defender ‘s Office, where she represented indigent defendants. She is an advocate/ally for college students in recovery from process addictions and has drafted legislation to require implementation of collegiate recovery programs in public universities.
