Last month our firm obtained another complete defense verdict in a premises liability case, again successfully defending a big box retailer against the claims of a Plaintiff. This time the venue was Broward County state court. The case involved the claims of a young child’s mother, brought on her own behalf and on behalf of her six year old son (2 and a 1/2 at the time of the accident), that her child had sustained significant, permanent injuries from scarring caused by contact with an “unmanned” pallet jack. Plaintiffs asked the jury to award over $560,000. Following the four day trial, the jury deliberated for around an hour and a half and returned a verdict for our client, finding that there was no negligence which was a legal cause of Plaintiffs’ claimed loss, injury or damage. Congrats again to our trial team for a difficult job done well. The trial team was led by firm partners Greg Reed and Julian Smothers. We are also thankful to another South Florida jury for their time and service to our system of justice and for rendering a just and fair verdict.
